An epidemiological survey was conducted in 21 panchayats of Keezhapavoor block, Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. The villagers and school children revealed the prevalence of dental and skeletol fluorosis. The samples were also chemically analyzed for their water quality parameters.

In the present study, samples of ground and wastewater were collected from Pali, Rajasthan and analysed for relevant parameters. The results of the analysis of ground and wastewater showed the high range of toxic heavy metals and other parameters in the ground used for potable purposes.

JAIPUR: A five-member delegation of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board which visited two fluoride-affected villages in Rajasthan over the weekend was impressed by the success of a UNICEF-sponsored fluorosis mitigation programme and expressed the desire to replicate the model back home.

Aug. 2: The collective effort of the residents of Nakkaladoddi Narsapuram has made the village free from fluoride contamination. The village is five km from the Guntakal mandal headquarters and has 300 habitations.
In the past, hundreds of people were crippled in the village because of fluoride contamination in water.

The purpose of this investigation was to assess exposure to drinking water fluoride and to evaluate the risk of dental fluorosis among the Harappanahalli population. The study covered all 20 areas in Harappanahalli and 80% of population that has access to public water supplies.
