LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh is working towards implementation of the Scheduled Tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, for empowering the tribals and other traditional forest dwellers for their occupation and habitation rights on forests. This Act empowers and encourages forest dwellers to protect, conserve and manage forest bio-diversity.

The government today admitted its failure in dealing with the losses suffered by tribals in land acquisition for various projects, but said one solution was that tribals must benefit from the projects for which they had been displaced.

Vadodara: To make tribals aware of their rights and to encourage them to fight for their cause, a network of 43 NGOs, under the aegis of Adivasi Mahasabha, will work towards the complete implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006.
