Scheduled Tribes under the banner of newly-formed Mull Goencharanchi Songhottna has called for a stop to the acquisition of tribal land and demanded implementation of Panchayat Extension to Scheduled Areas Act (PESA) in Goa to protect the rights of the scheduled tribes in all sectors.
The Goa Forest Department today said that D Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and the adjoining mangrove areas at Chorao have been declared as critical Wildlife Habitat for the purpose of scheduled tribe and other traditional forest dwellers Act, 2006.
