New Delhi, Oct. 29: The Centre today approved the four-laning of the 84km Barasat-Krishnagar section of NH 34 at an estimated cost of Rs 859 crore.

The first unit of the 726 MW Palatana mega power project in Tripura will be operational by first quarter of 2012, said VK Jain, the Executive Director of ONGC Tripura Asset here on Saturday.

New Delhi: This could be an indicator of how the ambitious highway development programme has been a nonstarter in UPA-2. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded only 17 projects for 1,574 km since January against the plan of awarding 135 projects (14,384 km) in the current financial.

Hazaribagh: Just a few days after the contract was signed for four-laning of the Ranchi-Hazaribagh stretch of NH-33, the much-awaited project is staring at fresh hurdles.

To ease routine traffic jams on the Jaipur-Agra highway, a four-lane road tunnel would be constructed in the city, a Government official said here on Sunday.

The first such project in the city will come up at Ghat-ki-Guni, the entrance to the Pink City, and will be executed under BOT (built, operate and transfer) basis and the cost of the project is Rs 150 crore.
