The Haryana government has formulated a plan for mass production of bio-fuels from all kinds of biomass and organic waste. A spokesman of the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency said by converting biomass, animal waste, hospital waste, hotel waste, industries waste into bio-fuels, the emission of extremely lethal methane gas into environment could be prevented.

Chandigarh: The Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGCL) is venturing into solar power generation by setting up solar energy-based power plants at Panipat, Yamunanagar and Khedar in Hisar.

HPGCL plans to tap the vast solar energy potential and earn carbon credits by generating power through this clean source.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda lit the boiler of the 600-mega watt Unit-2 of the 1,200-MW Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Project at Khedal on the Hisar-Chandigarh highway.

CHANDIGARH: Energy efficiency measures will be implemented in six more municipal council areas of Haryana through the Energy Service Company route, State Chief Secretary Urvashi Gulati said on Tuesday after presiding over a meeting of the State level monitoring committee for implementation of energy conservation measures and Energy Conservation Act-2001.
