A NEW postgraduate course will be introduced in all agricultural universities of the country from the next academic session. This course will enable the students to deal efficiently with the challenges of climate change and decreasing productivity in agriculture sector, J.C. Katyal, vice-chancellor of Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, said.

The entomologists at HAU have come up with a natural control for the mealy bug- a pest of cotton crop which destroys crops every year.

The detection of cases of dengue in some new areas of the state has become a cause of concern for the health authorities.

Dengue, which is spread by the bite of aedes mosquitoes, was common in the national capital region of the state till recent years.

However, this year several other districts of the state like Fatehabad, Sirsa, Bhiwani and Hisar have come under its grip.

Tohana town in Fatehabad district has been the worst hit where as many as 87 cases of suspected dengue have been detected this year.

Hisar, July 29 The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has turned more environment-friendly and cautious. It will now collect old unbroken burnt or used Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs), incandescent bulbs and tube lights for proper disposal so that these are not harmful to society and environment.
