Marking a significant shift, India for the first time voted today in favour of a proposal at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board to create a fuel bank that has an eligibility condition so far associated only with signatories of the Non-Proliferation Treaty

The Zwentendorf nuclear power plant in Austria has been taken on lease by PM Dimensions, a Mumbai-based workforce-development and engineering-services company, for imparting training in nuclear plant operations.

The plant, located by the Danube river, has a Light Water Reactor of 723-MW capacity, and is owned by EVN, an Austrian utility company.

In what is being seen as a counter to the India-US nuclear deal, China has taken the next significant step on the sale of two nuclear reactors, Chashma 3 & 4, to Pakistan by officially communicating to the IAEA on Tuesday that it intends to go ahead with the deal under a 2003 agreement.

NEW DELHI: India and UK will finally sign the civil nuclear agreement in New Delhi on Thursday. The nuclear agreement, which follows similar agreements with France, Russia and others, will be signed between Atomic Energy Commission chairman S Bannerjee and British High Commissioner Richard Stagg at South Block, sources said.

New Delhi, Oct. 13 After being held up for well over two years due to fuel shortages, the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) expects to get the two new units of the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS) up and running by January.

Venezuela has yet to develop a plan to explore or exploit its uranium deposits despite comments by a government official saying it was working with Iran to locate them, Venezuela's energy minister told Reuters.

On Friday, Mining Minister Rodolfo Sanz said Iran and Venezuela were working together to find uranium, and preliminary tests showed the South American country holds large deposits.
