PARADIP: With an aim to expedite land acquisition process and finalise the rehabilitation package of the people to be affected by Posco, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of IDCO Priyabrata Patnaik today conducted a review meeting with the district administration and Posco officials here.

Tata Steel has bagged a place among the top 100 most sustainable corporations in the world.

The rating has been given by Corporate Knights, a magazine for clean capitalism. It announced its sixth annual global list of 100 most sustainable corporations at World Economic Forum at Davos.

Bokaro will soon boast a second steel plant.

Announcing this today at the end of his two-day visit to Bokaro, Union minister for steel Virbhadra Singh said Bokaro had 44,000 acres to spare and that would be used to set up a new plant in joint venture with a global player like Posco or some other reputed steel maker. A new power plant was also in the pipeline.

Bangalore: A team of officials from South Korean steel major Posco would visit Karnataka in mid-February to appraise the land parcels available in the state in order to set up their proposed integrated steel plant, a top Karnataka government official said.

Union steel minister Virbhadra Singh today encouraged all units of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) located in Ranchi to go full steam on research projects, adding that the Centre would provide required support to ensure their swift completion.

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has assured South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak that work relating to the Rs 54,000-crore Posco steel plant project, which has been delayed by more than a year, will be expedited.

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel wants to begin work on the proposed 12-mtpa greenfield project near Tontaposhi in the Seraikela-Kharswan district, 35 km from here, once the newly elected state government puts in place a formal resettlement & rehabilitation (R&R) policy.

The Rs 50,000-crore project involves acquisition of around 10,000 acres of land.
