SHILLONG: The East Jaintia Coal Miners and Owners Association (EJCMOA), a conglomeration of coal miners and owners from the East Jaintia Hills has suggested the State Government to constitute a Joint Advisory Committee on Mining Policy which shall include representatives of the Government, professionals, experts and social organizations.

NONGSTOIN: West Khasi Hills Students' Union (WKHSU) has asked the non-tribal coal traders in Shahlang to leave the coal mining areas by October 23.

"We have set a deadline for the non-tribals to leave the coal mines in Shahlang within October 23. A public notice has also been issued to them," WKHSU general secretary Despitol Sun told reporters after a public meeting on Wednesday.

SHILLONG: Coal mine owners of Jaintia Hills met on Tuesday at the Khliehriat circuit house to discuss the fall-out of the proposed scientific mining in the State after the adoption of the new State Mining Policy.
