Measles claimed lives of three more babies in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Some 21,710 cases of measles have been reported in the province during the last six and a half months with an addition of 116 new cases during the last 24 hours.

Forty-six measles patients were brought to hospitals in the province on Monday. So far 21,578 measles cases have been reported from across the province including 5,709 in Lahore.

At least 30 new measles patients have admitted in different city and private hospitals between Sunday and Monday.

A special immunization drive to contain the spread of measles in Ganjam district began on Monday.

A four-year-old girl died due to measles and over 20 children are suffering from the disease at a village in Ganjam district, officials said today.

Government’s claims aside, at least 31 new cases of measles were reported from different hospitals across the city on Thursday.

At least 175 new cases of measles have been reported in different hospitals across Punjab on Wednesday while 26 new patients were admitted in city hospitals during the last 24 hours.

Measles on Monday claimed one more life during the last 24 hours, raising total deaths to 182 in the province so far.

With 133 new cases reported during the last 24 hours, the number of measles cases reported in Punjab in the last six months has reached 20,422.
