The Ministry of Power is looking to clear swiftly coal linkages for projects based on supercritical technology, said sources.

According to top officials in the government, supercritical power projects would get linkages to coal mines on a priority basis, compared to projects based on sub-critical technology.

PALAKKAD: Palakkad district on Tuesday became the first fully electrified district in the country.

Announcing this, Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that the government was working on a target of bringing electricity to all villages in the next two years.

Declaring Palakkad as the first total electrified district in the country at a function in Ottappalam near here on Tuesday, the Minister said that 68,000 villages had been electrified so far.

Palakkad in Kerala has become the first fully electrified district of the nation. The Union power minister, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde, officially announced this on Tuesday in the presence of the state electricity minister, Mr A.K. Balan. The government had taken out a special package to electrify all the 11 Assembly constituencies in the district, including Malampuzha, which elected the CM, Mr V.S.
