Municipal Corporation, Shimla dated 11/09/2017 regarding the functioning of the waste to energy plant in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Counsel appearing for the Project Proponent submits that their Waste to Energy Plant is not functional as the machinery of the energy plant has been sent back to Germany for appropriate mechanical and other corrections.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Capt. Mall Singh & Ors. Vs. State of Punjab & Ors. dated 06/09/2017 regarding waste to energy plant in Bathinda, Punjab. Counsel appearing for the State of Punjab has submitted before the Tribunal that the solid waste management plant is functioning satisfactorily. He also pointed out that the Project Proponent is not starting the waste to energy plant in accordance with the terms of contract and that the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) which generated is not being accepted by the end user.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. Irfan Ahmad & Ors. Vs. Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora & Others dated 05/09/2017 regarding collection and disposal of municipal solid waste in the city of Srinagar and the surrounding area. NGT makes it clear that any further delay in addressing the issue would be tolerated particularly as it is leading to the the indiscriminate dumping in Achan lake side. People are stated to have been suffering from different diseases because of this huge dumping and even the water body which is stated to be at a distance of 250 Mtrs.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Almitra H. Patel & Anr. Vs. Union of India & Others dated 04/09/2017 regarding the inefficiency of the local authorities and Government of NCT Delhi in the handling, collection and disposal of municipal solid waste management. The Tribunal expressed its displeasure at the fatalities caused by the Ghazipur garbage hill collapse "because of improper, unscientific and indiscriminate dumping of municipal solid waste at these sanitary landfill sites".

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vishwa Vijay Singh Vs. U.P. Pollution Control Board & Others dated 25/08/2017 regarding pollution of water resources in district Gorakhpur and Balia, Uttar Pradesh due to discharge of sewage and industrial effluent. NGT directs the State Government of Uttar Pradesh to file complete and comprehensive affidavit and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board should also file its report in relation to the above within two weeks.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Kalinga Nagar Residents Welfare Association Vs Ministry of Urban Development & Housing, Govt. of Odisha & Others dated 24/08/2017 regarding sanitation and solid waste problems faced by residents of Kalinga Nagar-8, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It is alleged that the solid waste management of the respondent Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was inept as solid wastes are dumped in the open space in the residential area of KN-8 contributing further to the pollution of the environment.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Western Zone Bench, Pune) in the matter of Amol S/o Shripati Pawar V/s. Commissioner, Latur Municipal Council & Others dated 23/08/2017 regarding municipal solid waste management, Latur, Maharashtra. Counsel appearing on behalf of the Latur Municipal Corporation submits that CCTV cameras have been installed at the MSW Plant and dumping site and steps are being taken to install Data Logger System coupled with meter for recording the supply of electricity at the plant and its utilisation.
