The matter related to failure to take action for protecting Astamudi wetland and Vembanad-kol wetland, a Ramsar site in Kollam district of Kerala.

The Kerala State Pollution Control Board had conducted a sanitation survey of Ashtamudi lake and found that the main reason for the pollution of the lake water was the indiscriminate discharge of sewage and dumping of solid waste from households and establishments.

Grievance of the applicant was that malba/ waste material was being dumped behind the lane of T1, DLF, Phase – III, Gurgaon, Haryana.

Sandeep Sharma, Chief Engineer, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) was requested by the committee to brief about the dumpsite and the fire incidents at Ghazipur landfill.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of In re: News item published in The Indian Express dated 20th April, 2022, titled “7 Charred to death in fire near Ludhiana dumpsite” dated 25/07/2022.

A report titled 'Environmental assessment of tourism in the Indian Himalayan region' by the  Govind Ballabh Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment (GBNIHE), Kosi-Katarmal, Almora was submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) in compliance with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order.

The study was carried out in relation to a statement made in Hindu newspaper, ‘Tourism has brought economic prosperity to the Himalayan region but the environmental cost has been catastrophic’.
