The application seeks execution of NGT order, February 23, 2021, wherein the Tribunal directed remedial action against violation of environmental norms in the operation of distillery unit of M/s Sir Shadilal Distillery and Chemical Works in district Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh including reducing capacity as per sustainable development principle and fixing accountability for the past violations on polluter pays principle.

Joint Inspection Report of M/s DSM Sugar Mansurpur, district Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh in compliance to the NGT direction, August 18, 2021 in Original Application No. 16/2021 (Vinit Kumar Vs DSM Sugar Mills Ltd. & Others). The joint team comprising officials of the CPCB, UPPCB and the Additional District Magistrate visited the site, November 17, 2021.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Chandra Shekhar Vs State of Uttar Pradesh dated 21/09/2021.

Grievance in the application is against discharge of untreated effluent by Triveni Sugar Mill at Khatoli, district Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in contamination of groundwater in the area of about one and a half kilometers and upto depth of 50 meters. This has affected the health of the inhabitants and the inhabitants are not able to access potable water.
