Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News item published in the local daily “News18 India” dated 06.08.2020 titled “700 Tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate Stored in Chennai Safe, Eauction Done: Customer after Beirut Blast” dated 24/08/2020.

Report filed on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) in Original Application No. 173 of 2020.

The matter relates to 700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored in a custom bonded warehouse of M/s Sattva Container Freight Station (CFS) at Ponneri Road, Manali, Tiruvottriyur taluk, Chennai district. The ammonium nitrate has been stored in the CFS since 2015.

Report filed on behalf of the Director, Industrial Safety and Health, Tamil Nadu in Original Application No. 173 of 2020. The report was filed after the NGT sought clarification on 700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored in Customs bonded warehouse in Ponneri Road, Manali, Chennai. The ammonium nitrate was seized in October 2015 at Chennai port.
