Nagaland has recorded its first H1N1 positive case, official sources said on Monday. The sources confirmed that the test sample of the suspect sent to the Regional Centre, Dibrugarh, tested positive on Sunday. The patient, hailing from Dimapur, had returned to Nagaland from Pune.

KOHIMA, Sept 16: An inter-Ministerial Central Team, led by S C Gargh, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Agriculture, is visiting Nagaland to assess and take stock of the prevailing drought-like situation in the State.

An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, rocked the city around 12-58 am today. According to the Central Seismological Observatory (CSO) sources, the epicentre of the earthquake was at Latitude 25.4 degree North and Longitude 94.8 degree East on the Myanmar-India (Manipur-Nagaland) border region.

KOHIMA, Aug 19: To boost organic agriculture in Nagaland, for the first time in the Northeast, the State Agriculture Department has signed a joint venture Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA), Bangalore.

At least nine people have died in the past few weeks due to an unknown fever in Phek district of Nagaland.

Chief Medical Officer of Phek today confirmed the death of nine people, seven from Pholami village and two from Khomi village.

Even as the rest of the country is on high alert to check the spread of Influenza A (H1N1) commonly known as swine flu, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has admitted that the State of Nagaland is not prepared to check the attack.
