A group of NGOs have asked the Centre to set up a non-Governmental authority for monitoring, evaluation and grievance redressal related to implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

However, the Ministry of Rural Development did not seem ready to accept the proposal.

An amount of Rs 2.8 crore has been spent in three districts of Jammu, Kathua and Samba under NREGA till date in the current financial year. This was stated during a meeting to review the implementation of NREGA in the three districts held under the chairmanship of the Minister for Rural Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohd Sagar.
