COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Corporation is of the firm view that the menace of non-biodegradable and non-recyclable plastic bags should be eliminated for its waste management programme to be successful.

Mumbai: Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's message of Kar ke Dekho, a group of 10 women in Nashik have started a movement to encourage the use of cloth bags and reject plastic ones.

NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over the harmful impact of plastics on the environment, President Pratibha Patil on Wednesday said effective waste management of plastics was the need of the hour.

New Delhi: Worried over the ban on plastic bags in the Capital, traders are now looking for options. In an interactive session between the traders and the government on Thursday, the former raised their doubts and discussed ways to make Delhiites aware about the ban. Some RWAs also attended the session.

After getting positive response from the anti-polythene drive, the district administration has launched the second phase of the campaign against plastic bags.

The second phase aims at countering use of plastic bags in rural areas of the district.
