BHUBANESWAR: Even though the Centre had launched the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) way back in 2000 with the objective of providing all weather connectivity to villages, in many instances funds earmarked for the scheme did not yield the desired result.

Bhopal: Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni has directed all district Collectors of the state to closely monitor the situation of drinking water in their respective areas and initiate steps right now to formulating an action plan so that the supply of drinking water could be ensured till the end of the year. Sahni asked them not to be slack in this regard.

BHUBANESWAR: The empowered committee of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) sanctioned Rs 1,859 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for construction of 1,123 roads to connect 1,790 habitations.

Even as the flagship National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) scheme continues to face problems at the implementation level, Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, ignoring suggestions by Planning Commission Deputy Chairperson Montek Singh Ahluwalia and other economists, has refused to bring any major change in the scheme.

Bhopal, Dec 17: 4,624 roads spanning 21,338 kilometres length have been constructed so far in Madhya Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. The most striking aspect of construction of these roads is that they have ushered in a new era in eight thousand 50 villages of the state by connecting them with main roads. These roads have been constructed at a cost of Rs 5437 crore.
