ITANAGAR, May 20: Faced with acute shortage of funds to continue with road constructions under the Prime Minister Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY), coupled with ire of local contractors, the State Government is literally knocking on the door of the Prime Minister to bail it out of the situation.

Uttar Pradesh, a major beneficiary under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), has not only ignored action against erring officials for poor implementation of the flagship scheme but has instead awarded additional works under the scheme in certain cases.

The state cabinet in its meeting today endorsed the action plan for linking all the villages with roads in Madhya Pradesh by the year 2013 under Mukhya Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, MNREGA and BRGF.
