June 22: In a bid to ensure effective outreach of banking system in rural India and adequately help the Centre properly transfer huge volumes of fund to poor masses under Nrega and other social sector programmes, the government is likely to make provisions in the upcoming Budget for setting up of branches in all un-banked blocks.

It may be recalled that Rajasthan was a top NREGA performer in terms of implementation of the scheme for three consecutive years during the previous BJP government During the current financial year, the state government would receive Rs 9,525 crore, highest among the states, and has fixed a target of providing 100 day wages to 71.12 lakh families in the rural areas.

Kushalnagar Town Panchayat presented a surplus budget of Rs 177.98 lakh for the year 2009-10 on Friday. The budget was presented at a meeting presided over by Town Panchayat President H J Kariappa.
