The state of Madhya Pradesh plans to provide solar power to 425 villages by the end of the 2010 financial year, and has plans to generate 200MW of power through solar energy by 2013, suggest reports.

The state is developing a full infrastructure solar park in the village of Ganeshpura, Gujarat, on 300 acres of land.

CHENNAI: India and China can provide solutions to the energy resource problem by tapping solar and wind energy as alternative, said polar explorer Robert Swan here on Monday.

Addressing an interactive session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mr. Swan said use of these alternative, renewable energy sources would help reduce pollution.

General manager UCD Shreni announced here on Wednesday that DRM offices of Lucknow, Izzatnagar and Varanasi would switch over to solar power from March 2011 onwards.
