An application was filed before the NGT based on a newspaper article published in the Dainik Bhaskar, December 10, 2024. The article talked about illegal construction and encroachment of a waterbody (pokhara) which is being used as a waste disposal place creating environmental hazards. The applicant said that the site should be developed under the Jal Jeevan Hariyali scheme.

The damage of the bridge has endangered the aquatic life of Dolphins in the river. It was said that that huge quantity of muck was dumped in the Ganga River due to above disaster causing severe damage to the lives of Dolphins in the river.

The NGT through its previous order, March 23, 2023 had directed the constitution of a committee under the Chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Environment, Bihar. The committee was entrusted to remove encroachments from three ponds, Darbhanga.
