AFTER Dindigul and Theni, now several cases of diarrhoea have been reported for a second time within two weeks near Attur in Salem district. Nearly 100 people, including children, have been suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting since Tuesday at Sadhasivapuram near Attur.

THE death of Pavithra, a 10year-old girl, who was under treatment for diarrhoea at the Uthamapalayam Government Hospital, on Wednesday has caused panic among Theni residents.
A number of people with symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting from Uthamapalayam, Cumbum and Bodi are being treated in government and private hospitals.

THENI: Despite intermittent showers and marginal increase in storage level in Periyar dam, lifeline for Theni and four southern districts, acute drinking water crisis has been haunting several municipalities, town and village panchayats in the district for the past 15 days.
THENI: A total of 18 wells sunk on Mullaperiyar river bed by private people for irrigation between Arapadi Thevanpatti and Vaigai dam were closed to prevent illegal tapping of water from the river and to streamline drinking water supply to rural and urban areas in the district, said Collector P. Muthuveeran.
