Faced with reservations expressed by wildlife experts and NTCA officials, Jairam Ramesh has shelved his ambitious plan of involving the World Bank in the country's tiger conservation programme.

India does not plan to move the World Bank for getting aid for conservation of tigers in the country.

A national website on tiger conservation, www.tigernet.nic.in, was launched by Union minister of forest and environment Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday. Speaking at a press conference, the minister pointed out that this would be the first consolidated database to provide an update on tiger deaths and details of tiger poaching.
