Agartala, Nov 5: The Tripura Government has decided to set-up an elephant reserve in the State to preserve the animal which had nearly disappeared due to large-scale poaching and migration to neighbouring Bangladesh. The latest census has shown that the population of the elephant has gone up from 38 in 2002, when the last census was taken, to 59 now, the State Board for Wild Life said.

This report is the outcome of a study undertaken to understand the principles of what has worked and what has not worked in Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) which is the national programme on reforms in rural sanitation launched by the Government of India in 1999.

Agartala, Oct 15: The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 665 Crore for water project in Agartala under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM) to ensure supply of safe drinking water.
Official sources here today said the project include renovation of existing water systems, maintenance of ground pipes and transportation of water from Gumati River, 70 kilometres away from Agartala.
