A malaria epidemic has killed at least 55 people, including 46 children, in Tripura this month while thousands have fallen ill, officials said here on Sunday.

The official death toll in Tripura after the outbreak of malaria reached 45 on Tuesday. Among the deceased at least 30 are children and most of them are under 10 years of age.

Agartala: After a lull, two turbines of Palatana’s first unit have been put on operation since Tuesday generating 140-145 MW power on daily basis.

Earlier also, the Palatana first unit had successfully generated power upto 140-145 MW. However, it was put on shut down after directive from the NERLDC.
However, the power generation is on experimental before going for commercial production of power, according to sources. On Thursday, the two turbines generated 130 MW in the morning while it shot up to 140/145 in the night.

Agartala: The 726 MW first commercial power plant of state-owned ONGC at Palatana in southern Tripura will start generating electricity this month-end, company officials said here Monday.

ONGC, the Tripura government and infrastructure and financial service company IL&FS have jointly floated the ONGC-Tripura Power Company Limited (OTPC). The plant will help ONGC to monetise its huge gas reserves and assets in Tripura.

Agartala: The first unit of ONGC-Tripura Power Corporation’s 726 MW gas-based power plant at Palatana in southern Tripura will start generation by September, officials said here on Monday.

On Monday, ONGC started supplying natural gas to the plant through a 54 km-long pipeline. Before the commercial generation of electricity from the unit, trial runs would be conducted during this month-end, ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited (OTPC) Managing Director, Sudhindra Kumar Dube said.

Agartala: ONGC-Tripura Power Corporation (OTPC)’s 724-MW gas-based thermal power project at Palatana in South Tripura district would start generation by June, a top official of state-owned oil major ONGC said on Tuesday. The first phase of the project would be operational by June, ONGC Chairman and Managing Director Sudhir Basudeva, who reviewed the progress of work at the project with OTPC officials on Monday, told reporters here.

“There is nothing wrong in it. ONGC-Videsh has got this asignment through an international bid and we will go ahead with our exploration work with a Vietnamese oil company,” ONGC Chairman and Managing Director Sudhir Vasudeva said here.
