ONGC-Tripura Power Corporation (OTPC)'s 724-MW gas-based thermal power project at Palatana in South Tripura district would start generation by June, a top official of state-owned oil major ONGC said today.

AGARTALA: The Union Government has allowed cent per cent Bangladeshi investment in power sector of Northeast, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) officials said here on Monday.

According to MEA officials, the decision of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) especially from Bangladesh was considered following expression of interest of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in participating in 726 MW gas-based combined cycle mega power project in Palatana in South Tripura during her recent Tripura visit.

AGARTALA: With the increasing incidences of man–monkey conflicts over the year in different parts of the state, the Tripura government has mooted the intension to set up a Primate National Park in southern part of the state with an exclusive enclosure for monkeys.

According to report, the state forest department has already conduct the feasibility study for the proposed site spreading over about 500 hectares stretch, along Indo-Bangladesh border to facilitate cross border movements of the animal and a project of Rs 71 crore was submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF).

AGARTALA: The Dumbur Lake, one of the best tourist destinations of Tripura, is all set to get a new look with the government mulling to transform it into more fascinating tourist spot.

A Chandigarh based Architecture College has already envisaged a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for overall beautification of the Dumbur Lake, 83 km from capital town.

AGARTALA: The first unit of mega Palatana project is all set to be operational by May next year, said Sudhir Vasudeva, Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of ONGC here on Wednesday.

The CMD along with Director (HR) S K Jamestin and OTPC Managing Director SK Dubey called on Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at Civil Secretariat and discussed various issues related to the 726 MW power project.

The ONGC is fully ready to supply the required natural gas to the upcoming Palatana power project in South Tripura district.
