The foremost priority should be to liberate Kshipra river from encroachments at its source of origin. It is a matter of concern that the river is vanishing within 13 kms from its emanating source, let alone the long distance. The govt maps have been changed and fields and roads have replaced the river in the map.

The Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan made this announcement while inaugurating the deepening work at Gambir dam, 19 km from Ujjain. Chouhan said that since today the Chief Minister and ministers would be garlanded only one time during any official function.

The ground water samples collected from different tehsils of Ujjain district were analysed in the laboratory for electrical conductivity (EC), pH, cations (Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+) and anions (CO32-, HCO3-, Cl- and SO42-). The ground water quality map of the district was generated using ERDAS-IMAGINE 8.7 software showing different categories.
