Capping the garbage at Uruli Devachi and Phursungi depot and generating energy from methane produced is expected to take a couple of years, but the Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited ( IL&FS ) has already submitted a draft Detailed Project Report (DPR). The final report is likely to be presented this week.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has shortlisted 10 sites, including one near Govandi in the city, to set up an electronic waste processing unit. The plant, to be set up on public-private partnership, will have a comprehensive process to collect, transport and recover precious metals from e-waste and its safe treatment.

CHENNAI: The State Environmental Appraisal Committee has recommended conditional environmental clearance to the Chennai Corporation's proposal to set up a solid waste processing facility at the Perungudi garbage dump yard, according to sources in the civic body.

The Corporation has also applied to Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board for pollution clearance for the project.
