Order of the Bombay High Court regarding steps taken by the state of Maharashtra to deal with COVID-19 pandemic, 12/05/2021
Order passed by the High Court of Judicature at Bombay in the matter of Sneha Nirav Marjadi Vs State of Maharashtra & Others dated 12/05/2021. The matter related to the steps taken by the state of Maharashtra to deal with COVID-19 pandemic. The High Court said that facts show that there is short supply of the drug Remdesivir.
The court's attention was also drawn to social media posts, indicating that some political and film personalities had "indulged in supply of Remdesivir to the citizens" and said that when the drug was being allocated by the Central Government, how the same can be privately available for distribution at the hands of the some political and film personalities. The High Court directed the state to file an affidavit to explain how Remdesivir has been distributed and allocated in the state.
Further, the District Collector, Thane has been asked to look into the need of oxygen at the hospitals in Palghar and in other remote backward areas of the district, so as "to ensure the availability of adequate infrastructure for hospitalization and availability of medicines for all such citizens in need of such treatment in the rural areas."
