The National Advisory Council (NAC) which was entrusted with the task of formulating the first draft of the proposed National Food Security Act (NFSA) finally came out with its recommendations. In short, the proposal is to provide subsidised foodgrains to 75% of total population of country, covering 90% of the rural population and 50% of the urban population.
