Clean payment

if an efficient water management system is guaranteed, people are willing to pay for clean water. According to a study carried out by Purnamita Dasgupta of the Institute of Economic Growth in Delhi, out of the 603 under-privileged families surveyed, 72.88 per cent said they would like to pay for good quality water but are not in a financial position to do so. At least 12.23 per cent are satisfied with the present situation, while the remaining 14.79 per cent are not ready to pay for their water supply.

The study further reports that people are spending a lot of money on water-related expenses as they frequently suffer from diseases due to poor water quality. However, the study has some drawbacks. The size of the families surveyed was not considered while measuring their water consumption, a few questions asked were overlapping and the socio-political situation was not given importance.
