IT IS a poignant pointer on the general apathy of the ruling class, irrespective of their partisan affiliation, to the environment and ecology that the highest judiciary needs to come forward with rulings, sometimes suo motto and in response to public interest writ petition, asking the government to prevent degradation of the environment and destruction of the ecology.
