Government of India through introduction of this Policy, envisions to work in close collaboration with the State Governments towards large scale deployment of wind power in the country so as achieve the target of 60,000 MW (cumulative) by 2022. The Government also recognize the importance of wind energy in achieving energy security for the country, and the role that wind power development may play in reducing trade deficit and also keeping up with environmental commitments of the Governments towards society.
