A new publication released by the World Bank and the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery examines current and future trends in terms of earthquake and flood risks for selected countries across the Europe and Central Asia region. The country profiles model these disaster risks under current conditions and future risks by taking into account risk drivers such as changes in climatic scenarios or patterns of socio-economic development (urbanization, demographic growth, etc.). Risk information featured in this publication also confirms that floods pose the highest risk for the Baltic States, the Central European States, and the Russian Federation, while the Caucasus States, Central Asia, and South East European states tend to be more affected by earthquakes.
