Karnataka Electric Vehicle & Energy Storage Policy 2017

The state cabinet approved the Karnataka Electric Vehicle & Energy Storage policy, and became the first to have such a policy in place. The policy aims to promote research & development in electric mobility and grow the sector. The policy looks at maintaining the lead share of Karnataka as a preferred destination for attracting investments in manufacture of electric vehicles. The policy,aims to create conducive environment for transition to electric vehicle environment from internal combustion engines. The government will make amendments ent will make amendments to building by-laws for providing mandatory charging infrastructure in all high rise buildings like IT parks, SEZ, malls, and apartments etc,. The government will also create a special purpose vehicle (SPV) involving BBMP, BMTC, BESCOM, KREDL, KIADB and other agencies to create more charging infrastructure in the city.
