The State/UT Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion & Facilitation) Act, 2017

Launching a major move to liberalise agricultural markets in the country, the Centre circulated among the states a draft model law seeking to break the monopoly of traditional APMC mandis and allowing states to set up a unified platform and also private players to set up individual market yards. The new draft law — the State/UT Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2017 — aims at providing alternative and wider options for farmers to sell produce and get better price.
