Technology transfer is seen as playing a critical role in the
global response to the challenges of climate change. Indeed,
the transfer of environmentally sound technologies (ESTs) is
embodied in the very fabric of the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This brochure summarizes GEF strategies and policies that have evolved with respect to the transfer of ESTs and provides examples of GEF experience in supporting the transfer of climate change mitigation and adaptation technologies.
