SHILLONG: BJP Meghalaya State Unit has entrusted the State general secretary Dr PM Passah to enquire into the alleged involvement of its Jaintia Hills district president Junior Lamin in the Uranium ore smuggling.

SHILLONG: The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya School, Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills has been facing acute shortage of water these days.

The school has 300 resident students who have to fetch water from a distance of more than 10 km from the school. The head of the school has even asked for a water tanker to supply water twice a week to temporarily help the water crises in the school.

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Government has entrusted the task of evaluation study to the Council for Social Development (CSD) of Hyderabad which is recognised by Indian Council of Social Science Research under the ministry of Human Resource Development, to study on the progress of centrally sponsored scheme-Mid-day Meal in the State.

SHILLONG: Reiterating the urgent need for uranium supply to deal with the energy crisis in the country, the Centre on Tuesday claimed that negotiations with the Meghalaya Government on the issue of uranium mining were showing 'positive results' and that it was 'a matter of time' before Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) went ahead with the project in West Khasi Hills.
