Ranchi, Aug. 31: The Union minister of state for coal Santosh Bagrodia today remained non-committal on a deadline for wage revision of coal executives and employees.

Jamshedpur, Aug. 28: The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) would invest Rs 12 crore this fiscal under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

Director (personnel) and in charge of SAIL's raw materials division, Ganatantra Ojha, said majority of the funds earmarked for CSR would be spent towards developing model villages in mining areas and near the steel plants of the company.

Ranchi, Aug. 20: Renewable energy sources need to be tapped to solve power problems in villages across the state.

Speaking at the Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Samaroh organised at the Town Hall to mark the 64th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, the chairman of Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission (JSERC), Mukhtiyar Singh, said it was time to take action.

Ranchi: Three successive bandhs in the last seven days have pushed Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Ltd (TVNL), the major thermal power generating unit of the state, on the brink of a disaster.

Pushpak Management Services has been appointed as the consultant. Officials said a team of industrialists would soon leave for Pune and Nagpur to study auto clusters.

The team will acquire knowledge on effluent treatment plants and hazardous waste management systems in Nagpur. The process will help incorporate the best methods and practices being followed by these clusters.

Dumka: Hundreds of people took to the streets today under the banner of Jharkhand Ulgulan Manch in protest against the arrest of a person spearheading a movement opposing the proposed power plant in the area.

The arrest of Hopna Baski, the village head of Amgachhi, agitated residents to such an extent that they squatted on a daylong dharna in the court compound today demanding Baski's immediate release. The members of Jharkhand Ulgulan Manch handed a memorandum to the officials.

Ranchi, Aug. 13: With an aim to revive the good old pleasant days in the state capital, the forest department has started tree plantation in the town this monsoon.

And the noble task took off with planting of saplings along Birsa Munda Raj Marg, also known as Harmu bypass road.

"We have planted 400 saplings on the roadside of Birsa Munda Raj Marg and Birsa Chowk to the state secretariat,' said Kali Kinker, divisional forest officer, social forestry, Ranchi.
