Grievance in the application is against unscientific dumping of solid waste and bio-medical waste in the area falling between Sher-EKashmir Bridge (NG 144A) and the confluence of Poonch river and Belar nala, near Poonch town, Jammu & Kashmir. Such dumping of waste has harmful impact on river Poonch which is a source of drinking water in the area. The authorities have failed to take remedial action inspite of representations.

Legacy waste dumped on the banks of Banganga rivulet has been removed completely and the site is totally clean. The Shrine Board has removed about 1500 MTs of waste dumped on the banks of river Banganga.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Joginder Singh Thakur Vs U.T. of Jammu & Kashmir dated 19/10/2022.

The applicant, Joginder Singh Thakur an advocate of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir has addressed a representation to the Additional Commissioner, Bhaderwa in Chenab Valley seeking ban of single use of plastic in religious places of Bhaderwah. He had also sent a copy of the application to the NGT.
