RANGIA, Dec 12: Bhairabeswari Debalaya, an ancient Hindu shrine, and its surroundings at Gurmow village under Goreswar Revenue Circle in Baksa district have the potentialities to boost the tourism sector in the State. Remnants of the ruined temple found scattered at the site reveal that there was a sacrad stone and the entire structure of the temple had been demolished by natural calamities.

BARPETA, Jan 28: Chouki, a small but beautiful place situated along the Indo-Bhutan border in Baksa district, has grown into a tourist spot nowadays. Thanks to the efforts of Manah Chouki Khongkha Eco-Tourism Society, an NGO, in turning the place to a tourist hot spot. Chouki was earlier infested by various militant groups.

The erosion by Beki river has been creating devastation in some parts of Barpeta and Baksa districts for the last few years.

Severe erosion since 2004 has targeted the Barpeta Dairy Farm, among others, and almost 800 bighas of land out of 1800 bighas of land of the farm have been lost to the river till now.
