UNTIL six months ago, Muthamma, an elderly woman, used to cook food using clean water from a well in her house.
No longer. She now approaches her neighbours for clean water as her well has been contaminated with sewage.

Muthamma is the only one in the locality who has a well.

The rest source their water from hand pumps. Fortunately, sewage has not contaminated their water source so far.

CHENNAI: The State Forest Department will plant 25,000 saplings in Chennai and its suburbs this year as part of the

CHENNAI-BASED BGR Energy Systems has secured a Rs 4,900-crore EPC contract from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadam Ni-gam for its 2x600 MW Kalisindh Thermal power project at Jhalawar in Rajasthan. This greenfield project is perhaps the largest engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract in the country. The scope of the project includes design, engineering, supply of boiler and steam turbine generator, BGR Energy CMD B G Raghupathy said.
