THE `1,655-crore elevated expressway from Chennai Port Trust to Maduravoyal is yet to get government approval, according to information under the Right to Information (RTI).

Guidelines issued for coastal zones

The Environment Ministry has issued guidelines for the States to enforce before clearing any construction proposal, pertaining to coastal zones. SCZMAs need to ensure if the CZMA examined the project in accordance to the CRZ Notification, 1991 and the approved CZMP.

Fishermen reject draft CRZ notification

The Kerala Swathantra Matsya Thozhilali Federation (KSMTF) has written to Union Minister for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh stating that the fishing community in the State totally rejected the Coastal Regulation Zone Notification 2010. The letter was sent to the Union Minister on November 5.
