CHENNAI: National Coastal Women Movement on Thursday opposed the draft Coastal Regulation Zone Notification, 2010.

The project titled ‘Scope, Structure and Processes of National Environment Assessment and Monitoring Authority (NEAMA) given by MoEF to IIT Delhi consortium had the broad mandate for developing the objectives, structure and core processes of the proposed NEAMA.

The Environment Ministry has issued guidelines for the States to enforce before clearing any construction proposal, pertaining to coastal zones. SCZMAs need to ensure if the CZMA examined the project in accordance to the CRZ Notification, 1991 and the approved CZMP.
