In a major crackdown, Chambal range police on Wednesday unearthed an illegal underground mining unit at Sindhi river in Datia district.

Police team, led by Inspector general D C Sagar and superintendent of police (SP) R P Singh, seized three boats laden with heavy mining equipment including diesel suction pumps and a large quantity of illegally mined sand from the spot.

Battling odds for a bucket of drinking water - that too muddy river water - is a part of the daily grind of Chandrabhan and other villagers of Kutoli village in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh.

JAIPUR/GWALIOR: The search for a home led a young male tiger from Ranthambore to travel through villages and agricultural fields, cross the Chambal river and 'settle' 220km away in a patch of forest in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh.

This is the farthest any big cat from the national park is recorded to have travelled. The journey has been documented by Ranthambhore's deputy conservator of forest YK Sahu, field biologist Dharmendra Khandal (of tiger watch), and Ayan Sadhu, a junior research fellow at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun.

Jaipur: A big cat from Ranthambore took a bigger stride this time! It almost leapt into history as it trekked 220 km (as the crow flies) between the state's reserve and Datia in Madhya Pradesh.

Though long dispersal of tigers from Ranthambore were reported earlier, but this is the longest distance in a direction travelled by any dispersed tigers from Ranthambore.

Bhopal : A sum of Rs. 15 crore 57 lakh will be spent on horticulture development in six districts of Bundelkhand region in the state.

Public Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra along with citizens visited the project site after water from Sindh river reached Ramsagar at Datia. The water from Sindh river has been brought to Ramsagar from Manikhera Dam over Sindh river, which is 145 kilometres away, at a cost of Rs. seven crore.

With a view to making Jalabhishek Abhiyan more resuit-orented for the first time water budget would be made and targets for constructing new water structures and renovating old ones would be fixed in Madhya Pradesh. Under the sixth Jalabhishek Abhiyan ,Bhagirath farmers would take up 16 thousand water conservation works.

The State Government have allocated an amount of Rs. 44 lakh 18 thousand for transportation of drinking water in four districts - Dindori, Dhar. Anuppur and Datia.
Out of the sanctioned amount, a sum of Rs. 21 lakh has been allotted to Dindori district, Rs. 10 lakh to Dhar district, Rs. seven lakh to Anuppur district and Rs. six lakh 18 thousand to Datia district.
