The Dibru-Saikhowa National Park is situated on the Left Bank of the river Brahmaputra in the extreme east of Assam and falls between the following geographical coordinates: Latitudes: 27° 30’ – 27° 45’N, Longitudes: 95°10’ – 95° 45’E.

GUWAHATI, NGOs working for environment and wildlife conservation has expressed alarm at the fact that poaching of wild animals and illegal cutting of trees is still going on in the forest areas of Assam, especially the Dibru Saikhowa National Park.

Spread across a 640-square km area, the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park is home to several species of wild animals and migratory birds.

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti has demanded that the Assam Government take immediate steps to ensure that the Government of India and Arunachal Pradesh Government call off the Public Hearings on 3,000 MW Dibang valley and 1,750 MW Demwe Lower (Lohit) projects, which are scheduled to take place in August this year.
