The unit claimed the land of about 137 hectares has been owned by the company since 2000. However, the Joint Committee report said that 51.470 hectares of land (38%) is owned by the company and the rest 68% land is owned by other people.

On 22.04.2021, India’s Environment Ministry published a Draft Fly Ash Notification, which was open for public comments for 60 days and sought to replace the earlier notifications with respect to fly ash management since 1999.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC) on June 25, 2021 has issued the Environment (Protection) Second Amendment Rules, 2021 to further amend the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986.
