LUCKNOW: The state government is all set to launch e-district scheme in all over the state to promote e-governance in every sphere of life and activity of the people.

Greater Noida: Illegal tannery units are polluting water in the Surajpur Industrial Area of Greater Noida.

The tannery shops are violating all laws while removing the skin of dead animals. After peeling off the skin, the carcasses of animals are dumped in ditches or sprinkled with acid and buried. This is polluting the ground water in the area.

Thousands of farmers gheraoed the G.B. Nagar Collectorate in Greater Noida where, among others, president of Bharatiya Kisan Union, Chaudhary Mohinder Singh Tikait addressed them on Monday.

The farmers said they would not part with their land till a new law was enacted. Their demands included repeal of 1984-land acquisition act. Landless labourers should also be given 120 sq mt plots each.
