Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) bagged the national award for outstanding achievement in management of power by supplying uninterrupted power to all 18,000 villages under Jyotigram Yojna.

STATE-OWNED NTPC on Thursday said that it would set up a 1,320 MW coal-based thermal power project in Gujarat. The state government of Gujarat has given clearance for setting up the project on the surplus land at the existing Dhuvaran plant of the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited, the company said.

After investing nearly Rs 16,000 crore in its upcoming 4,620 MW coal-fired thermal power plant at Mundra, the Adani Group is now considering setting up yet another 4,000 MW coal-fired plant in the vicinity of the existing one in Gujarat's Kutch district.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat police have taken a new step towards clean energy by utilising natural energy sources for its new projects.

The Madhya Pradesh government has imported 50,000 metric tonnes of coal from Indonesia to deal with its shortage which is affecting power generation in the state, official sources said.
"The imported coal has reached a port in Gujarat and will reach the state shortly," Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL) Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) RB Agarwal said.
